Stephen Weaver, Head of Corporate Development at P&O Ferries has been confirmed as a Speaker at Coastlink.
In addition to his senior role at P&O Ferries, Stephen is the Chair of the industry /academia LHOFT project – the Liverpool Humber Optimisation of Freight Transport. LHOFT is funded by Innovate UK, and looks at the optimisation of freight traffic on the strategically important Trans-Pennine routes.
The project is a consortium of transport companies and other bodies looking at optimising and maximising the UK routes east/west, as well as reviewing new methods to improve impacts on both the environment and costs. Companies engaged with this project include P&O, GB Railfreight, DB Cargo, Nestle, Kraft Heinz, the Universities of Hull and Lancaster, ABP, Peel Ports, Oxford Rail Strategies – amongst others.
One area that has emerged from this project has been an increase in chinese links to the UK, with China’s COSCO Shipping committing to the Port of Liverpool. Peel Ports recently announced that COSCO Shipping will ship via Liverpool following a successful trial in 2018.
Stephen has a wealth of experience in short sea shipping and logistics. Following early global roles with Gulf Oil he entered the shipping industry in 1986, where he has subsequently enjoyed a distinguished career with SeaContainers, Stena Line and P&O Ferries.
Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Stephen speak at the Coastlink Conference, Join us at the event and network with key stakeholders from ABP, Unifeeder UK, and Maritime UK, as well as industry bodies such as British Ports Association and the Freight Transport Association.
