Stian Michael Kristoffersen, Product Manager – USV Solutions, for Kongsberg Maritime has con-firmed that he will be speaking at the Coastlink conference
Stian will present on the Yara Birkeland project, providing insight on the world's first fully electric and autonomous container ship, with zero emissions. The new vessel will reduce NOx and CO2 emissions, and aims to decrease the number of haulage trucks on the roads by up to 40,000.This first zero-emissions vessel will be a game-changer for global maritime transport, and will contribute towards meeting the UN sustainability goals.
Stian joined Kongsberg Maritime in 2010, after graduating from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology with a Masters degree in underwater acoustics. He initially joined as a Field Service Engineer, progressing through Product R&D, and he is now leading Kongsberg Maritime’s USV Product Team.
As a part of this role, he has been responsible for Kongsberg’s effort to support GEBCO-Nippon Foundation’s participation in the Shell Ocean Discovery X-Prize. His core responsibilities focus on the liaison with FFI (Norwegian Defence Research Establishment) for the continued development of the K-MATE USV control engine. Within Kongsberg Maritime, Stian also participates in projects ranging from collaborative over-the-horizon multi-mission survey capabilities for USV and AUV systems, and he is a part of the larger MASS development program.
