Exploring the impact of revised EU TEN-T Guidelines at GreenPort Congress.

The EU’s trans-European transport network policy, known as the TEN-T policy, is crucial for planning and developing a unified, efficient, multimodal, and high-quality transport infrastructure throughout the EU. This network includes railways, inland waterways, short sea shipping routes, and roads that connect urban centres, maritime and inland ports, airports, and terminals.

It promotes efficient transportation for both people and goods, ensures access to jobs and services, and facilitates trade and economic growth. The policy enhances the EU’s economic, social, and territorial cohesion by creating seamless transport systems across borders, eliminating gaps, bottlenecks, and missing links. Since its 2024 revision, it also focuses on reducing the environmental and climate impact of transport, as well as increasing the safety and resilience of the network.

3 EU TEN-T coordinators, responsible for the European Maritime Space, the North Sea Rhine Mediterranean and the Atlantic European Transport Corridors will be exploring the impact of revised TEN-T Guidelines (EU Regulation 2024/1679, Adopted on June 13, 2024) and EU Funding on the green transition of the maritime sector, at this year’s Greenport Congress.

The three speakers will be discussing the following:

• The new European Maritime Space, EU TEN-T Coordinator for the European Maritime Space
• New TEN-T requirement to better connect the ports with their hinterlands, EU TEN-T Coordinator for the North Sea Rhine Mediterranean European Transport Corridor
• EU funding support, with a focus on alternative fuels, EU TEN-T Coordinator for the Atlantic European Transport Corridor
