Greenport Congress Oceania was excited to announce the opportunity for a small island port in the region to be sponsored to join the inaugural conference in Newcastle, Australia. The conference, being held in the Newcastle Exhibition & Convention Centre (NEX), on February 15-17 2023, built on the successful European Greenport Congress and Cruise, now in its 18th year.
Greenport Congress Oceania provided leaders from the port community - port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, logistics operators - with a meeting place to both learn about and discuss the latest in sustainable development and environmental practice. Presentations and solutions shared during the two days, enabled delegates to plan and effectively implement the changes needed to reduce their carbon footprint and to be more sensitive to environmental considerations.
Iliesa Kelevi Batisaresare of the Maritime Safety Authority Fiji was the lucky winner of this initiative, sponsored by Sustainable ESG, was granted free attendance to the 2 day conference including all refreshments, welcome reception, conference dinner, full conference documentation and technical port tour, worth AUD 1995. On top of this, newly founded Sustainable ESG, spearheaded by Jackie Spiteri, sponsored a travel grant of AUD 1000 to the lucky winner towards flight and accommodation expenses.
