Fresh from securing the Mediterranean’s first onshore power agreement, Transport Malta will take centre stage at Coastlink 2025, moderating a key session on accelerating Onshore Power Supply (OPS) expansion.

Norbert Grech, Senior Manager of Transport Malta’s Onshore Power Supply Unit and Board Member at EOPSA, will lead the discussion: “OPS Expansion – How Do We Increase the Pace to Meet Demand?” He will be joined by top industry experts shaping the future of maritime electrification.

Kaushik Jadhao, Marine Electrification BD Manager – EMEA at Shell, will explore the potential for standardizing charging infrastructure across marine and road transport. His insights on optimizing CAPEX by combining infrastructure could revolutionize port and vessel electrification.

Bringing over 25 years of maritime electrical expertise, Tania Berry, Electrical Capability Lead at BMT, will focus on aligning electrical capabilities with strategic objectives, fostering innovation, and driving industry excellence.

Representing the UK’s largest shore power project, Kieran Morton, Business Development Manager at Port of Aberdeen, will share key insights on major port upgrades, decarbonization strategies, and lessons learned from Aberdeen’s pioneering initiative.

Meanwhile, James Evans, Head of Operations at Portsmouth International Port, will detail Portsmouth’s ambitious shore power project. After securing funding in 2023, the port is now designing and implementing a state-of-the-art OPS system across its three busiest berths, facilitating the new Brittany Ferries hybrid LNG Electric ships.

With industry trailblazers leading the charge, this session is set to deliver critical insights on scaling OPS, overcoming infrastructure challenges, and accelerating maritime decarbonization.

Coastlink takes place on 29-30 April 2025, and will be hosted by Bilbao Port Authority.
