Would your port benefit from learning how to profit from green initiatives? The provisional programme for GreenPort Cruise & Congress has been finalised and is now available to view online.
This year’s programme, entitled ‘Profiting from green initiatives’, will include one day of Cruise presentations on 16th October, followed by two days of Congress, from the 17th-18th October.
Join port authorities, terminal operators and policy makers at GreenPort Cruise, focusing on the interaction of the port with the city surrounding it and emphasising the importance of partnerships allowing ports to meet the future’s challenges head-on with innovation.
Session titles include:
- Cruise port - city - commercial port relationships
- Planning for the future: meeting the specialist requirements of the cruise sector
- Port reception facilities
GreenPort Congress will kick off with a session covering the upcoming policy measures affecting ports, terminals and shippers. Speakers such as Isabelle Ryckbost from ESPO and Antonis Michail from the International Association of Ports and Harbours will provide a brief update on policy which will be concluded with a roundtable discussion covering:
- Global and European Priorities and Goals
- Decarbonising the Port Environment
- Translating Green Initiatives into a profit
- Port City striking the right balance & partnerships
This will be followed by a session covering the challenges ahead and the practicalities of meeting them, within which attendees will hear from ports and terminal operators about how they are responding new environmental policies.
Day one will conclude with an interactive session entitled ‘You can't manage what you can't measure’. This workshop will exchange views and experience on the measurement and reduction of air pollution and GHG emissions. The session will cover the key steps to implement an Emissions Management and Reduction Plan and experience will be shared on a global basis at a time when a number of ports have set themselves the goal of zero emissions in around 20 years’ time.
The second day of GreenPort Congress will include sessions such as:
- The success factors of environmental charging schemes
- Responsible supply chains: the full story
- Greening concession bids and renewals
- Green technological R&D
