Transnet taps simulation for maritime training

Transnet is upgrading its port training with Kongsberg Digital’s advanced K-Sim simulators, set for delivery in June 2025. The package includes systems for tug operations, vessel traffic management, maritime communication, and engineering, all tailored to South Africa’s coastline.

This investment aims to address port inefficiencies, which have had a major economic impact, and enhance trade facilitation and sustainability. By boosting training capacity, Transnet is preparing skilled operators to meet industry demands and improve port performance.
