Senegal’s growth boosted by Ndayane port works

Work has officially begun on the Port of Ndayane, a transformative project aimed at positioning Senegal as a global trade powerhouse

With an investment of US$1.2 billion, the project includes the dredging of a 5 km-long shipping channel using the Willem Van Rubroeck to allow the world’s largest container ships to dock.

Phase 1 of the project will see the completion of an 840 metre quay and a 5 km channel, enabling Senegal to handle 1.2 million teu each year. Phase 2 will expand the port with an additional 410 metre quay, cementing Ndayane as a key logistics hub in west Africa.
