EIB loans €80M for Bilbao Port expansion

The European Investment Bank has signed an €80 million loan agreement with the Port Authority of Bilbao to finance the expansion and electrification of the port

This project aims to promote sustainable maritime transport, offering an alternative to more carbon-intensive modes of transport.

The EIB funding will support the second phase of the port’s central breakwater expansion, the development of the port’s landside electricity grid, and the installation of renewable energy generation infrastructure.
