US$3m to protect Oakland from rising sea levels

The Port of Oakland and city have been granted US$3 million to help combat the effects of rising sea levels

The award from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will help fund the ‘Rising Seas and Oakland’s Infrastructure and Frontline Communities: Climate Adaptation Planning for Neighborhood-led Resiliency’ project.

The port is also contributing US$1.5 million to the US$4.5 million project.
