Mandatory pre-booking at Eurogate Bremerhaven

From 2 May 2023, trucks will need to pre-book slots at the CTB and MSC Gate Terminals using Dakosy’s Truckgate IT platform which has been in use in Hamburg since 2017.

“With our connection to Truckgate, there is now an end-to-end registration process for truckers in the seaports of Hamburg and Bremerhaven,” said Marc Dieterich, managing director of Eurogate CTB.

The binding slot booking was preceded by an eight-week open pilot phase which saw a high level of compliance. “At the end of the pilot phase, about one-third of the nearly 1,000 trucks handled daily were already pre-planned via Truckgate,” said project manager, Jan Wienbeck, who added that around 85% of drivers were already familiar with the system having used it in Hamburg.

Run time targeted for 20 minutes

“We want to reduce the current handling times, including the OCR check and PreGate phase, by at least 40 per cent using Truckgate,” continued Wienbeck. “We see our goal at 20 minutes for a single run.”

Up to six containers can be registered per truck arrival. Bookings can be made up to three business days in advance, and all slots can be changed, swapped or cancelled retrospectively. Additional containers can also be added at a later time.

The time slot for each booking is one hour with 90 minutes grace periods before and after. The plans is for seven self-check-in terminals where drivers can check in with the pre-booked Truckgate reference number.
