Alabama port expands container capacity

The Alabama Port Authority has begun the fourth phase of its container terminal expansion, aiming to double capacity from 500,000 to over 1 million teu per year

This US$200 million project, developed in partnership with APM Terminals Mobile, includes the construction of an inter-terminal connector bridge for on-dock rail access, reinforcing Mobile’s position as a leading logistics hub in the south-east.

The Alabama Port Authority is also investing over US$1 billion statewide in capital projects for containerised cargo, funded through federal investments and public-private partnerships.
