With the increasing popularity of cruise holidays, ports are seeing a large increase in the number and size of passenger ships using their facilities and the local infrastructure is also required to cope with the influx of huge numbers of passengers at a time.
The 2nd GreenPort Cruise conference will cover the environmental and sustainability issues facing cruise port and terminals across the world as, with the increasing popularity of cruise holidays, ports are seeing a large increase in the size and number of passenger ships visiting. The local infrastructure is also required to cope with the influx of huge numbers of passengers at a time. The GreenPort Cruise conference will be held the day before the GreenPort Congress and delegates will have the opportunity to network with stakeholders and suppliers from cruise port and terminals across the world.
* Cruise ports will learn how to avoid congestion in the cruise port, whether to chose Cold ironing or LNG and improving the Port-City interface
* Cruise terminal operators will hear about waste management solutions and improving cruise ship terminals
* Cruise ship operators will find out how to avoid noise pollution in city ports
The Call for Papers has now been released and abstracts are invited on the following subjects:
•Green mobility in the port
•Port-City interface
•Cold ironing or LNG? The growing impact in port cities
•Waste management in the cruise port
•Avoiding noise pollution by cruise ships in the city
•Improving cruise ship terminals
•Avoiding congestion in the cruise port
Paper submissions for the programme are invited from port authorities, port users, cruise terminal operators, cruise ship operators, logistics companies, suppliers of equipment and services to the port community, classification societies, consultants, NGOs etc. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and should be received by 24 March 2014 latest. Please also include a picture (jpeg) and biography of the speaker and send to congress@greenport.com.
