The 9th GreenPort Congress and 2nd GreenPort Cruise Conference takes place this week at the World Trade Centre, Barcelona. Hosted by the Port of Barcelona, the event will bring together the whole port community and will be a platform for the exchange of information on the latest in sustainable environmental practice and will help maritime ports and terminals to reduce their carbon foot prints whilst becoming more sensitive to the environmental considerations, which is vital to their future success. Join nearly 200 participants from port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines and other port stakeholders from 30 countries, in Barcelona this week!

The 9th GreenPort Congress and 2nd GreenPort Cruise Conference hosted by the Port of Barcelona, will take place at the World Trade Centre, from 14-17 October 2014. The Congress programme, will cover topics that affect all maritime ports and terminals, including:

• Customers, users and stakeholders perception of a Green Port
• Tools for green ports to respond to stakeholders’ expectations – working groups
• Global versus regional regulations on shipping related aspects and impact on ports
• Green ports meeting forthcoming challenges – working groups
• Financing opportunities for green port projects
• Ongoing green port projects

The one day Conference will cover the following topics:

• Onshore Power Supply (cold ironing) or LNG?
• Waste management
• Improving cruise ship terminals
• Port-City interface panel discussion

As well as being informed on the latest policy and technology, delegates will also have the opportunity to participate in working groups and to share their first-hand experience with peers from across the global logistics chain.

Welcome Reception – Tuesday 14 October
Participants at the GreenPort Congress and GreenPort Cruise Conference are invited to come along to the Welcome Reception, which is being held on the 14 October and is hosted by the Port of Barcelona at the magnificent Sala Maritima, Hotel Grand Marina. This is an excellent way to meet fellow delegates in a relaxed environment.

Gala Dinner – Wednesday 15 October
All participants at the GreenPort Congress are invited to attend the Gala Dinner, a fantastic networking opportunity being hosted by the Port of Barcelona and being held at the Museu Maritim de Barcelona (Barcelona Maritime Museum). Discussions started during the day will undoubtedly be continued, in the beautiful setting of the Maritime Museum.

Tour of Barcelona Port – Friday 17 October
All GreenPort Congress participants are invited to join the Port of Barcelona tour on Friday 17 October 2014 taking place from 10.00-12.00. Get an insight into the workings of this incredibly busy port during the tour.
