Svitzer’s industry first electric-methanol tug

Svitzer has signed a contract with Uzmar shipyard to construct what it calls the world’s first battery-electric methanol-powered tug. 

The ground-breaking port vessel will feature a 6MWh battery and dual-fuel methanol engines for range extension, offering zero-emission services for up to 25% of Svitzer’s operations in Gothenburg.
