EU funding for ‘twin port’ shore power

Two ports in Europe have received more than €15 million in EU funding to help reduce emissions and improve passenger and freight operations.

The TWIN-PORT VI project is a four-year project supporting the twin city development of Helsinki and Tallinn, the capitals of Finland and Estonia respectively.

The project – the sixth time the two have collaborated – will see shore power systems installed at Muuga Harbour in Tallinn and Vuosaari in Helsinki and the creation of a green corridor between the two ports.
