Bilbao invites shorepower project bids

The Bilbao Port Authority has launched a €55.4 million tender for the second phase of its onshore power supply (OPS) project, aimed at reducing the environmental impact of port operations

The project, known as BilbOPS, will allow vessels to connect to the power grid when berthed, cutting fuel consumption, gas emissions and noise levels. The works are expected to take 24 months to complete, with proposals due by 31 January 2025.

This phase, the most ambitious of the two planned, will focus on the electrification of key dock areas including the ferry, RoPax, RoRo and container terminals, along with cruise ship berths.
